KIDaccount Student, Staff, and Visitor Management

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Ottumwa Community School District is using KIDaccount to help manage several important school processes more consistently and efficiently, and to maintain a safe and secure environment in our buildings during school hours.

KIDaccount supports visitor check-in, event registration, and student hall passes. Families can also access KIDaccount through the KIDaccount Connect App. At select schools, KIDaccount is also used to manage dismissal changes and carline pickup.

Visitor Management

Why We Use It
KIDaccount Visitor Management helps our front office maintain an accurate record of visitors in the building and provides a consistent check-in process. Visitors are checked against national sex offender registries and provided a badge upon check-in. Please bring a valid photo ID or driver's license when visiting a building.

What Families Need to Do
  • Report to the front office or designated entrance.
  • Bring a valid state-issued ID.
  • Present your ID during check-in.
  • Follow any instructions provided by school staff.
  • Check out before leaving the building.
If you do not have a state-issued ID, please see the front office for assistance.

Event Day Management

Why We Use It
KIDaccount Event Day Management helps our school organize guest registration and check-in for designated school events. Visitors are checked against national sex offender registries and provided a badge upon check-in. Please bring a valid photo ID or driver's license when visiting a building.

What Families Need to Do
  • Register for the event using a valid state-issued ID via email or KIDaccount Connect App.
  • Bring that same ID with you to the event.
  • Present it during event check-in.
  • Follow any event-specific instructions provided by the school.
If you do not have a state-issued ID, please see the front office for assistance with registration and check-in.
Thank you for helping us maintain safe, consistent, and organized procedures for our students, staff, and families. If you have questions about any of the KIDaccount processes, please contact your student's school building or the Ottumwa Community School District Office at (641) 684-6597.

KIDaccount Connect App

Why We Use It
The KIDaccount Connect App gives families one place to access several school-related tools, including school building visits, digital carline cards, dismissal changes, and contact management.

Getting Started
  • Download the KIDaccount Parent App or use the web version provided by the school.
  • Select “Set Up Password.”
  • Enter the email address you have on file with the school (through PowerSchool).
  • Follow the email instructions to create your password.
  • If you do not receive the email, contact the school to verify your information.
Once logged in, you will see students for whom you are listed as an approved contact. If a student is missing, contact the school to verify your information.

Depending on the features used by your school building, the app may allow you to:
  • Access digital carline cards.
  • Request dismissal changes.
  • Add or remove approved contacts.
  • Sign students in or out at participating kiosks.
If someone needs to be prohibited from picking up a student, please contact the school directly.
